My name is Olivia Yevchak. I am a Girl Scout Ambassador. I just finished my exhibit on the negative effects of Fast Fashion. I did a month long exhibit at The Stable in Ridgewood, NJ. In it I showed many different sections of images and commentary that depict the effects of the Fast Fashion Industry. For example, Women and Child Labor, Micro-plastics, and air pollution were a few of my areas of focus. On this website you can see my exhibit and there is also some important information about the Fast Fashion Industry.

I became very passionate about Fast Fashion because a few years ago I had to write an essay on any topic. To help us choose a topic we were given a bunch of recent articles. So, I picked up a random article and started reading. It happened to be about Fast Fashion and the Rana Plaza factory collapse.

  • I immediately started becoming interested. I thought it was crazy that I had no idea about the many negative impacts of the Fast Fashion industry and it was right under my nose the whole time. Ever since my essay I have been doing more and more research about the topic. I am now very careful about what I buy and where I shop.

I would like to thank my advisor Michelle Tyler, my Co-Exhibitor Catheine Copeland, and my parents. I would also like to thank the photographers whose work I shared here. (I did my best to search for specific credits but had a very hard time finding those.)
